The Open Window is a song about yearning for strength to do something--something as simple as taking a shower during a depressive episode, but also something as complicated as leaving everything you know to start a life of your own. It's a song about figuring out who you are and what you actually want. It's a song about lonely, heartbroken nights when your mind is wrought with anxiety. It's a song about choosing to grow up even though responsibility is a heavy burden. It sounds like a sad song, but there is a glimmer of hope in there. Hope is the star you see when you look out your open window, late at night. Hope is in that wish you make on that star. ☆
